What is Active Health?

Active: [ak-tiv]:   1. engaged in action; characterized by energetic work, participation. 2. involving physical effort and action. 3. causing activity or change; capable of exerting influence (opposed to passive). 4. requiring personal effort or attention; not automatic.

Health: [helth]: 1. A state of optimal physical, mental, and social well being and NOT merely the absence of disease infirmity or pain.

Active Health is about taking responsibility and playing an active role in your health. Many people in today’s society like to have a quick fix. They are into quick meals. They are into quickly doing everything in their lives from work to travel to picking up the kids. Life has become fast-paced and quite often people take their health for granted.

 

If you consider the above definition of health a person can have no symptoms whatsoever and not be considered healthy. Symptoms of pain are actually the body’s last resort in telling you that you have a health problem. Health is our most valuable asset and without it we cannot enjoy anything else in our lives. 

 

It’s truly amazing the different ways people value their health. Each of us is given this amazing body. It’s self healing. Self regulating and thankfully takes care of millions of details all by itself without us having to give it any conscious thought. However, this “autopilot” feature of our bodies gets many people into trouble. It prompts many to neglect some of the basic maintenance necessary for a long, trouble free life.

 

If our bodies came with an owner's manual, exercise, getting proper rest, eating nutritious foods, drinking enough pure water would all be mentioned. Neglect any of these basics and your body warns you with hunger, thirst, lack of energy and other symptoms.

 

Also in your owner's manual would be to periodically visit your chiropractor to get tuned up and make sure the muscles, bones & joints and nervous system are functioning properly.  

 

Pain can be a compelling motivator to seek chiropractic care. However, it’s a lot like waiting until your starving to death to eat, or not drinking any water until your dehydrated and hallucinating.

 

We all know the saying an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Just as chiropractic is very effective for pain relief it is also an excellent means for promoting & maintaining a healthy state.

In my practice I like to treat people who have a desire to be healthy. They do not want to have a life of pain. Rather they want to have an active fulfilling life and take control of their own health. Active Health & Wellness Clinic was developed with that in mind.
